Dear Music Teachers,
We are pleased to announce the first annual Sejong Music Competition.
This year we will be holding piano and violin competition in
two divisions; junior (up to 8 th grade) and senior (grades 9-12).
In addition to monetary prize awards, winners will be invited
to perform at public concerts and master classes.
This competition is organized by the Sejong Cultural Society,
a non-profit organization, dedicated to promoting the awareness
of Korea’s cultural heritage. The main goals of the Sejong
Music Competition are to discover and encourage talented music
students and introduce Korean traditional music blended into
a western musical format.
This year we have selected piano pieces composed by the prominent
Korean composer, Professor Byung Eun Yoo from the Korean National
University of Arts and violin pieces by Ms. Keumok Heo from Chicago
and Professor Soonmee Kahng from Korea as required pieces. Music
scores can be purchased at
